The majority said the pace was about right. Two said it is a
little bit slow and one said a little bit too fast.
Most people like the contents so far and do not have a prior
expectation for this class.
Note: This course is a combination of mathematical modeling, numerical methods (especially for ODE/PDEs), and surpe-computing.
One people suggested that we solve the problems analytically first, then solve them on computer. The problem is that we do not have analytic solution for those problems, and that's why we need to compute approximated solutions.
Almost all the answer is yes except one. The class attendance
is required because we do not have any in class exams.
Most responded like the homework and Project I. Some want to
have more interesting problems. Some said they had some difficulties in
doing them.
How much time do you spend on this class weekly? Are you aware this is a writing/reading requirement for this class?
Most said between 3-6 hours which is about right for a 3-credit class. Other answers varies.
Do you feel comfortable with Matlab programming now?
Most people said yes, at least they said they were improving.
Most responded said yes.
Please list three topics/concepts that you have had difficulties to understand?
Choice of dt, which is understandable. It requires advanced knowledge to do this. However, if we use an implicit scheme, usually we have better stability.
Several students are rather appalled by how some students continually
come in 1/2-way through the class. I find it disruptive and rude.
