Scuba certification dives in Key Largo, FL, Dec. 2004 Climbing and Camping at Pilot May 21 and 22 Climbing at Pickens Nose, near Franklin, NC July 31, 2005 I have some pictures at Shutterfly. (This is where the scuba pics are.) My more recent pictures are at Picasa Web Albums.
I'm currently preparing to convince the members of my graduate advisory committee to sign the cover page of my thesis on on applying Software Thread Integration to Wireless Sensor Networks. My defense is scheduled for October 30 at 10am. I have worked at Sony Ericsson, Intel, IBM, and EMJ. I worked for Intel in California, where I had a good time. I met interesting people, and made some good friends. I learned to snowboard, cross-country ski, and rock climb! My friend Evan has a few of my pics on his website (and does a good job of telling their story). My senior design project was fun. I worked in a team of five to build a Bluetooth-enabled vending machine that we called "Bluefang." It turned out pretty cool. I learned a bunch of new stuff: PalmOS programming, Bluetooth, Java Communications API. Over a break a while back, I played around with some Java and came up with a Towers of Hanoi applet. I learned about the Towers of Hanoi in my Discrete Math class as an exercise in recurrence relations my sophomore year of college. Recently, my applet has been used in an introductory computer science course at the University of St. Louis and is used in a lab assignment in a course at Duke University (lab 7 uses my source code). This was my first attempt at a GUI in something other than HyperCard. (ha!) My favorite movie is October Sky. It's a
great movie that can be enjoyed by people of almost all
ages. The soundtrack is good, too. I say "almost" all ages
because my niece learned bad words and got in trouble at pre-school
for saying them! She's not allowed to watch it, anymore. :)
