email: [first initial]j[last name]@ncsu.edu
I’m a 2nd-year Ph. D. student at NCSU in the Computer Science Department. My primary research interest is natural language processing as applied to intelligent tutoring systems. My goal is a faculty position at a college/university. To this end, I taught CSC116 (introduction to programming with Java) in Summer 2009, and hope to repeat the experience soon.
I am originally from Stony Brook, NY. I completed an A.S. in Computer Science from Suffolk County Community College in May 2006. I transferred to Stony Brook University, where I completed my B.S. in Computer Science in August 2007, and an M.S. in August 2008, just prior to my move to NC.
My campus leadership positions at NCSU include:
University Graduate Student Association Vice-President for External Affairs (2009-2010)
Student Senator – Graduate School (2009-2010)
Computer Science Graduate Student Association at-large committee member (2009-2010)
STARS Student Leadership Corps (2009-2010) – coordinating a tutoring service for CSC116
ES King Village Council Administrator (2008-2009)
I can also be spotted at the occasional Linux Users Group Meeting, or NCSU football or basketball game.
Here’s my resume.
