Dr. Jonathan C. Kramer has performed as principal of the Tucson Symphony and as a member of the San Francisco Opera and Ballet Orchestras and the North Carolina Symphony.
He has performed extensively as recitalist and chamber musician throughout the U.S. as well as in Russia, India, Korea, Canada, Austria, Bulgaria, U. K., Switzerland, and Italy. Kramer has recorded for Albany Records, and Soundings of the Planet Studios.
has been described as a “delicate soprano” by the Washington-Post, which also commented on her ”...polished performance of ...French cabaret song.” She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and studied at the National Conservatory of Music. She is equally at home as a performer of “art” music and her homeland popular type of music, tango. Guillén has worked closely with Karlheinz Stockhausen in Germany, later touring with his Indianerlieder around the US, Canada and Argentina and conducting workshops on his vocal music. Guillén has recorded for Innova Records and the University of Arizona Recordings. She has a solo tango CD, “Never Too Tango,” featuring the participation of several guest artists.
is known for her deep and poetic musical interpretations. Her work to develop the repertoire for saxophone has produced dozens of commissioned works. A much sought-after performer of new music, she has worked with a multitude of composers and has appeared in many of the world's leading concert venues and contemporary music festivals. Susan Fancher is a regularly featured columnist for the nationally distributed Saxophone Journal and an artist for the Vandoren and Selmer companies. She teaches saxophone at Duke University. Her newest CD, In Two Worlds (innova 736) features music for saxophone and electronics.

HUSBANDS AND WIVES
PRECONCERT TALK BY COMPOSER STUART SAUNDERS SMITH AT 6:30pm
Concert at 7pm
This event will feature the World Premiere of a new work, Husbands and Wives, for two saxophonists by Stuart Saunders Smith. The work will be performed by the wife and husband team of Susan Fancher and Mark Engebretson, for whom the piece was written. Stuart Saunders Smith will be in attendance and will talk about the piece before the show, at 6:30 pm in the Ballroom. Smith's wife, the famous publisher (Smith Publications) and well-known performer, Sylvia Smith will also attend the event.
In addition, Fancher will perform a work for saxophone and electronic computer music by Reginald Bain. Included in the program will be video/computer music works by Ivan Elezovic and Jaroslav Kapuscinski.
