Music - performed by humans and non-humans alike will be in the air at NC State University on February 25-26, 2008. The fourth North Carolina Computer Music Festival will include two unique concerts of computer music, and a panel discussion with the composers.

The Festival will feature the World Premiere of a new work, John Explains... by Larry Austin and music by composers from as far away as Greece, and Italy with composers and performers in attendance from Texas, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, as well as North Carolina.

"The Festival will be an exciting mix of pieces with humans performing on cello, percussion, saxophone, and guitar" noted Festival Director and NC State Professor of Arts Studies, Rodney Waschka. "We host the Festival at NC State in order to bring great music to the campus for the benefit of the students and the surrounding community. It shows some of the artistic results that can be achieved with computer technology familiar to students at NC State" Waschka said.

Both concerts will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Stewart Theatre, located on NC State's main campus. Concert tickets, are available through Ticket Central, 919-515-1100. Parking is available at the Coliseum Parking Deck near the Talley Student Center which houses Stewart Theatre.

The public is also invited to attend a panel discussion with guest composers and performers at 1:30p.m. on February 26. This free event will be held in the Walnut Room of the Talley Student Center on NC State's main campus.

The festival is presented by NC State's Arts Studies Program, and the University's Department of Music.
