I study the physiological response of plant species in North Carolina to climate change, including increased temperature and drought. My research aims to improve predictions of how climate change will affect natural ecosystems to better inform future land management decisions.

My research is focused on understanding the physiological mechanisms governing whole-plant carbon balance in response to fire. I hope to provide a mechanistic understanding of plant persistence and resilience under varying fire frequencies.
