Music One of my favourite hobbies is singing. I enjoy singing Hindustani classical music. I started learning music from my mother at the age of two. Since then, I have taken lessons from several renowned musicians in India including Pandit. Ajoy Chakraborty, Chandana Chakraborty, Kaushiki Chakraborty Desikan and Jayanta Sarkar. Till last year, I was learning from Sanjukta Ghosh, wife of Pandit. Sankar Ghosh. Hindustani classical music has different styles or 'Gharanas' within itself. The style that I have learnt, is known as the Patiala Kasur gharana. It originated in the state of Punjab, located in northern India. Apart from classical music I enjoy other genres of music such as Ghazals. These are love songs which are mostly written in Urdu. Ghulam Ali ji's ghazals like "Dil Mein Ek Leher" and "Chupke Chupke Raat Din" leave me mesmerised. I have learnt ghazals from Ustad. Sabeer Khan. Since childhood, I have performed at various places in and around Kolkata. On 23rd March 2008, I had my first solo music concert at Birla Academy, Kolkata. The concert was conceptualised and organised entirely by my mother, Mrs. Sagarika Biswas, who has been the greatest source of inspiration and support through all the years that I've learnt music. I have also performed at several events of the Bengali Association, North Carolina (BANC) and at NC State University over the past year.
