Brief Biography
Suzanne O’Connell is currently a PhD candidate at North Carolina State University in the Horticultural Science Department. Her advisor is Dr. Nancy Creamer, the Director of the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS). Her dissertation research will focus on the use of cover crops in farming systems with an emphasis on nutrient release patterns and biological soil indicators. Suzanne received her Master's degree from NCSU in 2009 under the direction of Dr. Mary Peet and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental and Political Science from Barnard College, Columbia University in 2000. . Her M.S. thesis work focused on the nutrient uptake and performance of grafted heirloom tomatoes in organic production systems and her B.A. thesis on the environmental practices of the World Bank.
