About me...
I have
taught Spanish for two years at Fuquay-Varina High School. I
completed my undergraduate degree in Spanish Education with ESL
certification at NC State in 2007. I was also a Teaching Fellow
scholarship recipient and member of Sigma Alpha professional
sorority.
From an early age, I always
knew I wanted to teach. I chose to be
a Spanish teacher because it was a subject that I always excelled in
and enjoyed. I feel like I can be so creative with Spanish and
always make connections to the world and students' personal
interests. I am happy with my decision and have found that
teaching Spanish at the high school level is not only exciting but
fulfilling as well.
10 things you might find interesting about me:
1) I grew up on a farm in
Hillsborough, NC. Our family grew corn, soybeans, other small grains,
and also raised around 1,000 hogs. The land that my family lives and
farms on in Hillsborough has been owned by our family since the 1860's.
2) I went to a small
private school until I was in 8th grade; St. Mary's school had around
100-150 students in K-12 grades.
3) In high school I played
volleyball, soccer, was heavily involved in FFA, and also showed
livestock.
4) In college I started out
double-majoring in Agriculture Education and Spanish Education, then
decided that if I didn't want to be in school for a decade then I
better pick one, and Spanish was what I chose.
5) I studied in Perú for
about a month and a half during college, and have also been to Paris as
well (for fun).
6) My husband is my college
"sweetheart" and is also a teacher at Middle Creek High School; our
nemisis rival!
7) I have a cat named Ella that
we found in a parking lot in November of 2008.
8) In my spare time, I like
to exercise, read, and watch movies.
9) My all-time favorite
TV show is Friends. I have all the seasons!
10) My role model is my
father. I can only hope and pray that I end up being half the
incredible person that he is when I "grow up."

enough to get that close!
Playing with
one of the goats during senior year. Orange HS is only one of 2 schools
in NC to have its own barn on campus.
I
played volleyball since 5th grade and played for school and AAU teams
until I graduated from high school.
