23 Mile Ledge

Some more dive pictures

Off NC the two things we dive are wrecks and ledges. These pictures were shot at 23 mile ledge off of Wrightsville beach with Aquatic Safaris. 23 Mile ledge is essentially a cliff on the ocean floor. The top is at 85 ft. The bottom is 100-105 ft. The cliff is broken up with crevasses, overhangs, etc. The long expanse of rocky surface attracts corals, fish, and all sorts of other life. There are closer in ledges but 23 mile (which is 23 miles out) is the first of the big ledges. Not shown here were a large number of groupers of different kinds that we saw. My first dive to this ledge. Very nice. Water was 75 degrees at depth. Lots of stuff to see. Definitely want to dive again. The first picture is in natural light. At 90 ft we just have mostly blue and green though the eyes and brains will compensate and make you think you see more color.

The rest of the pictures with the exception of the last one used a strobe.
