After almost thirty years of moving with the US Army back and forth between Germany and the USA, my husband and I are now at home in Raleigh, NC.
In 1974 I finished my studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität in Frankfurt, Germany, with the Staatsexamen to teach English and German in secondary schools. Graduate school at UMASS, Amherst, resulted in an M.A.T. in German in 1979. During the next twenty years I taught German for many different organizations: the U.S. military, Goethe Institute, private schools and more. From 1999 – 2005 I was fortunate enough to teach for government agencies, including the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, VA.
My greatest enjoyment comes from seeing students achieve their goal in speaking, reading and writing German. Learning a language and culture for the purpose of communication, be it in private life or for business purposes, is a challenge for all of us.
I want to make it as ‘painless’ as possible.
