My name is Ginger Deason and I am working on my master's project at North Carolina State University in the Department of Forestry. I'm preparing to receive my Masters of Natural Resources with a focus on International Resources. This webpage is part of a project that I'm doing for a couple of reasons: 1) I would like to share what I have learned about non-timber forest products in general and in Central America, and 2) I would like also to share my master's project and the results of it with anyone who might be interested in non-timber forest products, and their extraction combined with selective logging in Central America.

Please use the buttons at the left to get into the pages to read more. I would recommend starting with about non-timber forest products especially if you're new to them.

The Belize page is about my master's project. My project covers non-timber forest product extraction on lands of Programme for Belize, a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable use of natural resources. I began my project in 1999 when I travelled to Belize three times that year, and I finished in 2000. I would welcome any comments or questions regarding my project. If you would like to see a Power Point presentation of my project, please click here.

The Nicaragua page is about my trip to Nicaragua in the summer of '99 with the Virginia Tech World Forestry Class. (Please note that most of the photos from this section are taken from the class photos page of the VA Tech World Forestry Class Web site and are used with permission. The ones not taken from this Web site are my own.)

On any page you can click on the NTFP HOME icon (like the one below) and return here to the home page. On the three main pages to the left (and this one) you can click on the email button, below, and email me with questions, comments, or suggestions.
