Curriculum Vitae

Greetings! I am the faculty advisor for the Cloud and Precipitation Processes and Patterns research group within Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences at North Carolina State University (links above).

I teach Introduction to Meteorological Remote Sensing, and Introduction to Atmospheric Sciences I. Additionally, I co-teach with Dr. Matthew Parker courses in Atmospheric Convection and the Dynamics of Mesoscale Precipitation Systems.

I currently serve the atmospheric sciences community as an Editor for the AMS Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology and as a member of the NCAR EOL Observing Facilities Assessment Panel.

Since 2005, we have been using MicroRainRadars (MRRs) to collect vertically-pointing Ka-band radar data in several locations. We have developed Java software to remotely monitor MRR data sets and Matlab software to automatically generate MRR perusal web pages. See our MRR Resources Page for links to software and storm perusal web pages from our MRR deployments.

In winter 2014-2015, we will be collecting additional MRR data sets in collaboration with Prof. Brian Colle of Stony Brook University at Stony Brook, NY, and with Prof. Tim Garrett of University of Utah at the Alta Ski Resort in Utah.
