Sec. 2.1. Notation for common sets (p. xiv), the empty set, how to prove A is a subset of B, how to prove two sets are equal, power set.

Sec. 2.2. Union, intersection, difference of sets; complement of a set. (Omit Cartesian products.)

Sec. 2.3. Union and intersection of a family of sets.

Sec. 2.4. Proofs by induction, including proofs that start with P(k) instead of P(1).

Sec. 2.5. Proofs by induction in which we assume P(k), ..., P(n) and show that P(n+1) follows. (Omit the rest of the section.)
