- Description:
DGoogle is a distributed peer-to-peer file sharing system. We designed and implemented the system in two different architectures-(1) centralized architecture and (2) distributed architecture. In this system users (peers) are capable of efficiently searching for content in the system using a Google-like text search engine. The system included several features like- Document ranking, User authentication, security.
A GIS Application for Dhaka City:(Undergraduate Thesis)
Abstract:
GIS(Geographical Information System) is a popular technology with a
growing demand through out the world. Most developed countries have
well-developed GIS systems for representing various spatial information.
But in developing countries like Bangladesh there is not much work done
in this area. Although there are a number of popular GIS software solutions,
they are only suitable for use by technical people. Internet based GIS
applications serve as the source of geographical information for the
non-technical mass. So, the purpose of this project was to build a web-based
GIS application for Dhaka city, the capital of Bangladesh.
This research project comprises of two main tasks-
- Storing of map data and dynamic generation of maps and
- Determination of optimal
route between different locations.
For dynamic map generation and presentation
we developed a customized algorithm for drawing and scaling map images.
For route determination we experimented with several algorithms and
assessed their performance in different practical scenarios. This research
also addresses the issue regarding the trade off between dynamic map
generation approach vs. pre-stored map approach. Based on optimization
of space and minimization of processing time here we also propose a
hybrid model for this purpose.
