Roby B. Sawyers is a Professor in the Department of Accounting at North Carolina State University where he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in individual income taxation, the taxation of partnerships, corporations and S-corps, the taxation of estates and gifts, tax research, taxes and business strategy, managerial accounting and cost accounting. Roby received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University, a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Florida and a BSBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a CPA with public accounting experience, and has provided income tax planning and consulting services as a self-employed CPA for over 20 years. He is also a CMA and co-author of Managerial Accounting - A Focus on Decision Making and a contributing author of Advanced Business Entity Taxation in the West Federal Taxation series. He has published articles in The Journal of the American Taxation Association, The Journal of Legal Tax Research, National Tax Journal, Advances in Taxation, The Journal of Accountancy, The Tax Adviser, The Journal of Business Ethics, Oil and Gas Tax Quarterly, The CPA Journal, and Auditing, A Journal of Practice and Theory.
