Functions, graphs, limits, derivatives, rules of differentiation, definite integrals, fundamental theorem of calculus, applications of derivatives and integrals. Use of computation tools - MA 241: Calculus II - (Spring 2010, Fall 2009)
Second of three semesters in a calculus sequence for science and engineering majors. Techniques and applications of integration, elementary differential equations, sequences, series, power series, and Taylor’s Theorem. Use of computational tools. - MA 131Q: Calculus for Life and Management Sciences A - (Spring 2009)
First order finite difference models; derivatives – limits, power rule, graphing, and optimization; exponential and logarithmic functions – growth and decay models; integrals – computation, area, total change; applications in life, management, and social sciences.
Note: Course taught as part of the First Year Inquiry Program, a program at NCSU that is focused on inquiry based learning and developing critical thinking skills in first year students. - MA 107: Precalculus I - (Fall 2007, Fall 2008)
Algebra and basic trigonometry; polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions and their graphs.
Distance Learning: In Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 I was a TA for the distance education sections of both MA 107 and MA 131, as described above. As a TA, I maintained an online discussion board, where students asked questions about coursework. I also graded tests for MA 107.
Past Courses Assisted: MA 241 (Fall 2006, Spring 2008), MA 107 (Spring 2007)
Professional Development
- I'm was a fellow in NCSU's Preparing the Professoriate Program, working with Dr. Kailash Misra as my faculty member. In the fall, I observed MA 407: Modern Algebra and I in the spring was an instructor of the course. As part of this program, I attended several seminars on faculty careers and on teaching itself.
- I also completed NCSU's Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching Program. In this program, I attended several teaching-based seminars. As a culminating project, I made a teaching portfolio, which can be found here.
