Welcome
to the Ocean Observing and Modeling Group (OMG) in the Department of
Marine, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, North Carolina State University.
The research interests in our group include: coastal and estuarine
circulation dynamics; bio-physical interactions, numerical modeling, data assimilation, and design and
implementation of coastal ocean observing system.
Our approach is to use both in-situ and satellite remote sensing
observations, and realistic numerical modeling and analysis to explain
fundamental coastal ocean physical processes, and to gain an integrated,
quantitative understanding of their impacts on coastal ocean biological,
geological, and chemical processes. Our research is funded by various
federal agencies, and we are working closely with many other ocean
scientists and engineers in the community. We welcome interested students
and researchers to visit and join OMG.
