Eric's Comments on this deck:
"This is a revision of my PS:Philly deck. With only 2 weeks between
tourneys, I did not have a lot of time to play test a new deck, and I
was trying to work out some of the problems still. The deck suffers a
little by not being able to get the voter dominance to run wild. In the
first two rounds of this tournament, I was shut out, and the Final Round
was a balancing act to keep John Whelan's Nosferatu
Weenie-Embrace-Progeny-Vote deck in check. To this version of the deck,
I added a couple of bleed modifiers and Presence cards. I needed to cut
the reliance on the votes, since almost every round in either tournament
I was usually off to a quick start, but shut down by the third round
when everyone else brought out their Princes and Prisci. The basic
strategy is to bring out lots of minions and hold on via the pool gain,
votes, and Tributes, while waiting until your main vote opposition is
ousted? and then kick it into high gear. The most important addition to
this deck was the addition of the Delaying Tactics. Having that card in
my hand at the right time was what allowed me to get the victory."
My Comments:
The Final Round of this tournament was the best game of V:TES that I had
ever seen played. The table kept a balancing act between Eric's deck
(Pander-Weenie/Vote/Bleed, with about 12 Kindred in play) and John's
deck (Nosferatu-Embrace/Vote, with about 14 Kindred in play). Without
Eric's late game Delaying Tactics of John's Consangunieous Boon, John
would have swept the remainder of the table. John's Predator, Michael
Ahern (playing Intercept/Combat), successfully intercepted a number of
John's votes. John's Prey, Christian Alipounarian (playing
Bruise/Bleed), beat up some of John's minions (including the very
unceremonious decapitation of his Justicar). Keith McCormick's
Ventrue/Presence/Bleed couldn't get going, as Christian spread out the
pain in her direction too. Eric simply bided his time, gained strength,
and finally swept through John and Christian for the victory. Major
kudos to John Whelan and his deck, which is one of the best and most
interesting ones I have seen in a long time.
