The teacher/student relationship relies on a mutual agreement that each will devote time and attention towards achieving growth. Learning is not a passive activity. I believe that learning is most meaningful and exciting when an individual comes to an understanding on their own--as in a discovery. A teacher can supply direction, encourage inquiry, and offer support, but the best education is self-education. Teachers assist but students must ultimately find their own way to realize their full potential.
It is my aim that through the active participation in class my students will discover:
I hope that each student achieves fulfillment
by producing work that contains value and integrity. Each student’s success
is important to me and contributes to my own excitement for teaching and
learning.
