Professional Activities at N.C. State University
Taught a wide variety of mathematics courses, including courses in analysis, calculus, finite mathematics, linear algebra, modern algebra, probability theory, and topology.
Helped developed and taught several new courses for students interested in actuarial science.
Coached students for the Putnam Mathematical Competition and the Virginia Tech Math Contest since the early 1980's.
Ran the Wolfpack M6 Problem Contest from the Fall of 1989 to the Spring of 2001.
Awarded an Instructional Computing Grant for the first site license of MAPLE to be used in the teaching of Calculus in December 1986.
Started the Undergraduate Math Newsletter which has been published twice each year since 1995.
Took the lead in reestablishing the separate Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Applied Mathematics; this was authorized in 1995.
