My research focuses on the population genetics and demographics of several rare species, Pyxidanthera brevifolia, Astragalus michauxii, and Lilium pyrophilum, endemic to the Sandhills of the Southeastern United States.  I am interested in finding novel ways to integrate population genetics and demography for both the understanding of population dynamics and the management of rare species.  At the present time I am investigating the phylogenetics and phylogeography of Pyxidanthera brevifolia and a closely related taxon, Pyxidanthera barbulata.
