Genetic engineering - using lab techniques to manipulate an organism’s genetic code – is an invaluable method of overcoming previously unsurmountable problems. Engineered traits such as drought tolerance, disease resistance, heat resistance, and earlier flowering time have great practical consequence for scientific pursuits as well as horticultural. In our lab, we established an Agrobacterium -mediated transformation system in Cornus canadensis using GFP marker, the genetic transformation of several target genes are going, including CorLFY gene, CorTFL1 gene, CorAP1 gene, CorAP3, CorFT and an drought tolerance gene.
