- The Nisqually quake-the only earthquake I've ever felt, and it was magnitude 6.8! (It hit
while I was lecturing on induced representations at the Univ. of
Washington, immediately after a
student asked a sort of tricky question, conveniently buying the
instructor a little extra time.) Additional Pacific
Northwest
earthquake info (which I consulted every time a big truck drove by
for the first few months after the Nisqually quake).
Update in May, 2008: the recent Illinois/Indiana earthquake is now the second
earthquake I've felt, though the midwest quake was more like a blip compared to the Seattle one.
