Why use Linux? Why not?

Personally, I now have an 800Mhz Athlon, with 128MB of RAM, two 20GB hard drives running Red Hat Linux 7.2

I used to have a K6/300 and an old P133 (that used to have NT on it... I tried it, and it was *really* slow); I still have a 486 and a 286 with DOS and a partial ELKS install (it was really alpha...).

A good portion of said computer is devoted to text files and emulators. I also use other little cool programs like figlet and gifscii

If you're just a web-geek (and not a real computer geek like me :) then read about how/why I made these pages the way they are.

Something else I've been doing lately is testing out/using the minimum system requirements of programs. Like when I fit Linux on a 1.44MB 3.5" floppy disk. (and if you add the supplemental files I have on my DOS boot disk, you can even get it to play a few nintendo games!)

I tried out FPK-Pascal for Linux. It's okay, but somewhat buggy. However, it wasn't too hard to port my old text-based othello game to it, so I'm happy. :) Seriously, though, this uncovered a few incompatibilities between TP and FPK, and for that matter, DOS and Linux (fancy that) so it was useful. And now I can play my silly programs under Linux!

Personally I like Windows 1.03 better than 3.1... oh, sure, maybe it doesn't have all the nice features, like a separate File and Program Manager, and you can't really find many apps that it works with, but it has the basics, and it's really small. (if you're curious (or just bored), let me know, and I'll go into more detail (or just blabber))
