Comments: First wave of heavy snow seems to have passed and just a


light, very fine snow falling.  Observation was made on a


snow board and the total accumulation from the onset of the


storm was well over 0.9" and just under 1.0"  Drove back from


Smithfield leaving there around 7:40 PM.  First encountered


snow just SE of Garner on I-40.  Very heavy snowfall, hard


enough to cover the road on I-540 between Bus 64 and Buffalo


Rd. exits.  Snow intensity decreased and the roadway cleared


just E of US-1.  I didn't record the time at these locations,


it was difficult enough to drive.

is very bright.
