NCSUBoeing Joint AcademicIndustrial Research Program
Professors Steve Campbell, Ilse Ipsen, Tim Kelley, and Carl Meyer continued their collaboration with researchers at the Boeing Company on problems of mutual interest in the areas of optimization, control, and iterative methods. Together with an NSF grant and a cash donation by the Boeing Company, the Mathematics Program for Improved Optimization and Iterative Methodology (IOIM Program) was initiated.
In addition to providing support and mechanisms for fostering academic-industrial collaborations, the program provides support for Mathematics graduate students to experience the industrial research environment while completing their degrees. Graduate students Grace Cho and Jordan Massad spent the past summer working under the direction of Dan Pierce and John Betts at the Boeing's Mathematics and Engineering Analysis division in Bellevue, WA
