No direct penalties will be given for absences, therefore there will
be no distinction between excused and unexcused absences regarding
number of absences.
However, there will be occassional quizzes, and no make-ups for these
will be allowed. Three quiz grades will be dropped, and the remaining
will be averaged for 5% of the total course grade.
In addition, students with seven or fewer absences may be able to
recover points lost on a previous test after the final exam, as
described in the Grades section.
Finally, approved excuses (similiar to those described in Academic
Policies and Regulations - Attendance Regulations) will be required for
a make-up Test or Exam to be given. Excuses for anticipated absences must
be given in writing seven
days in advance, signed by a person of reasonable authority (e.g. faculty
or staff member), and including a contact phone number. Make-ups must be
completed within seven days of returning to class.

Calendar
This course will use the calendar feature in WebAssign to list exam dates and
other important upcoming events. Changes to the calendar will be
announced through the announcement feature of WebAssign.
Attendance Policy
As attendance is required in this course, roll will be called at the
beginning of each class. Students arriving late are encouraged to
write down the time they arrived, along with their name, and give the
paper to the instructor at the end of class if they wish to get credit
for being present.
Maple
Maple labs are required for this course, but are not directly part of the
classroom instruction. Information regarding Maple labs can be found
at the Math Dept Calculus
Page. In particular, new Maple users should immediately begin
looking at the Introductory
Materials. More information about the labs will be available after the
first test.
Homework
Homework is required for this course, and is part of the
classroom instruction. Assignments are posted and submitted via WebAssign. Students should
immediately begin the first three assignments to understand how to use
WebAssign. The other assignments may be done at the student's own
pace, but will be due before the test on the corresponding material.
If there are any doubts as to whether the material in classroom
sufficiently covers the problems in the homework assignments, please
contact the instructor using one of the options in the Contact section.
