Biography:  

Melinda Morrill is a Distinguished Professor and University Faculty Scholar in the Department of Economics at North Carolina State University.  She is also a member of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers.  In 2018, she was appointed as an NBER Faculty Research Associate and a TIAA Institute Fellow.  She also serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Pension Economics and Finance.  Her research explores how government and employer programs and policies influence individuals’ decision-making and well-being.  Her work has received funding support from the National Science Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the TIAA-CREF Institute, the Center for State and Local Government Excellence, the National Institute on Aging, the Social Security Administration, and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.  Her research has been published in top economics journals and has been cited in the Washington Post, New York Times, Newsweek, and the Los Angeles Times.  Prof. Morrill earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2000 and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2008.
