Here are some tips for capturing good photos
Fill the frame:
Get up close, but back away when necessary | Use the right lens for the right photo, a wide angle lens should be used for a wide angle shot | Have a sharp focus
Watch your Timing:
Be patient | Be on time for your assignments, and don't leave until the event is done--you might miss something | Wait for action | Watch what time of day it is, the best time to go shooting is early in the morning | Watch your exposure
Try to have a variety of compositions:
Leading lines | Repetition | Use the Rule of Thirds | Look for layering | Use the foreground to remove focus from unwanted objects in your frame | Shoot both horizontal and vertical photos | Look for multiple meanings | Use color | Capture emotion
Other hints:
Do your research | Always carry the right equipment | Carry an extra memory card, battery, pen and caption pad, just in case
