Our research addresses the question how aerosol particles interact with atmospheric water vapor (hygroscopic growth of haze, warm cloud formation, heterogeneous ice nucleation, and homogeneous freezing). We address these questions through theoretical models as well as laboratory and field experiments.

The picture shows a drop attached to a needle tip. The drop is illuminated by a green laser entering the drop from the left. The two bright dots in the center show internal reflections of the laser beam. Smaller dots are due to the reflection of air bubbles entrained in the drop.
