First STEPS in Job & Internship Searching

What happens after I apply online?

  1. Update your ePack profile and upload your resume in ePack
ePack is the Career Center’s premier service to connect you with employers for jobs and internships.

Select YES to allow employers to view your resume online.

Employers & Career Center staff search the resume database by the information contained in your profile (like graduation date).  The more complete & up-to-date your profile and resume, the more ePack can work for you.

When should I start my search?

After you publish your resume, don't forget to
search for
jobs & internships

in ePack's
database.

  2. Begin applying for posted jobs & internships through ePack
Be sure to search both the jobs/internships & interview schedules in the ePack system.  Set up a custom search to be notified of new listings meeting your criteria.

3. Attend employer information sessions
Posted in the ePack calendar, and advertised via department information.

4. Attend related career fairs
Gather more information about which companies are hiring, their hiring process, and the types of technical careers they have available.

5. Use multiple methods to identify job opportunities
Departmental listings, listservs, student organization meetings are among other effective methods

What happens after I apply online? Every company is a bit different…
* Many will receive resumes via email from ePack, or will login to their ePack accounts to view student resumes.
* Some employers will make decisions online through ePack, but many will not.
* If you apply directly to a company via their website, they will conduct screening through their systems and forward eligible candidates on to hiring managers.  You will be contacted directly by the company if they feel you are a fit.

* If you have questions about your application status, check the listing in ePack to see if the job has contact information.  If that info is visible, feel free to inquire about the process via email.
* If there is no contact info, connect with me.  I can check on a listing for you to see how they are handling selection.
