Welcome from the Lab Director

Lucian A. Lucia received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1996 in physical organic chemistry on the study of the fundamental electron/energy transfer pathways associated with photosynthesis.

He proceeded to spend approximately two years studying photoreactive polymers, photoinduced gelation phenomena, novel supramolecular behavior in microheterogeneous systems (vesicles, monolayers) as a postdoctoral fellow at the NSF-supported Center for Photoinduced Charge Transfer at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY.

The Center funded an extended teaching & research appointment for Dr. Lucia at Tokyo Metropolitan University near Tokyo, Japan, from where he accepted an Assistant Professorship from the Institute of Paper Science and Technology at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, Georgia.

He was faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Institute of Paper Science and Technology) from November of 1997 until July of 2004 at which time he accepted a faculty appointment at North Carolina State University in August of 2004.
