This is The Dog Station. It is a place where you can come to get some basic information on dog training and owning. I want to help you and your dog become the best and happiest pack on the block. All of the articles on the site are written by me and are based on research and personal experience. This site is for owners who love their dogs and want things to work out regardless of how long it might take!

I’m here to help you set some boundaries and be the best owner YOU can be for your puppy or dog. And let’s face it–we all want the best relationship possible with our dogs. They are our pride and joy, and not only are they great companions, but they cost a lot. They cost us our time, effort, money, stress, heart, tears, everything! So we owe it to them and to ourselves to have a healthy and happy relationship.
You can condition a dog to do almost anything. But it's called conditioning for a reason, it takes effort and time. Just put in the time, and it'll work. And be sure to let them know when they're doing it right! Dogs and humans have been getting along for a long time, but that doesn't mean that we speak the same language. Help them to understand what the rules of the human world are. They help you to understand their world too, and you'll find that it's a mutual learning process the whole way.
There are a number of articles on the site, so be sure to look around. If you want to learn something that I don't have up here, or have any questions, feel free to email me at lalauren@ncsu.edu. That's what I'm here for!
I am the proud owner of a mutt named Rikku. She has some german shepherd, she might have some chow in her, maybe some akita, maybe some husky–who knows! I adopted her at 8 weeks from Paw Prints Animal Rescue of Raleigh in June 2008. I’ve been working with her constantly to try and be the best owner I can be for her.
