MA 121 Elements of Calculus

Text: Calculus (9-th Ed.) by Bittinger, M. L.

We will cover the material in the text through Chapter 6. There will be 4 one-hour tests that you will take at the De Proctor Center; the test schedule is below. I will send out detailed test information prior to each test. Check the DE Proctor web site using the link on the NCSU DE web page for information about hours of operation and directions. If you require a remote proctor, you can arrange for this through the DE Proctor office - make such arrangements at least 10 days before the first test. There will also be a final exam. You may take your tests and exam any time during the listed time periods.

Grading Policy: Tests 65% of grade, Webassign 10%, Final exam 25% Lowest test grade will be replaced by your exam grade (if it helps)

Test 1September 11-12 Lectures 1 - 10, Sections R.1-R.5, 1.1 - 1.5

Test 2 October 3-4 Lectures 11 - 18, Sections 1.6-1.8, 2.1 -2.4

Test 3 October 29-30 Lectures 19 - 30, Sections 2.5, 3.1-3.5, 4.1-4.2

Test 4 November 21-22 Lectures 31 - 36 Sections 4.3 4.4, 4.5, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.6, 5.7

Final Exam December 9-16 Comprehensive: all of the above plus Sections 6.1-6.3

In order to do well on these tests, you should keep up with the homework assignments that are mentioned in the lectures.
