MA 103            SUMMER 2009

Welcome to MA 103.  Make sure that you pick up the course DVD's along with your text book. During the semester, you will mail in 4 assignments to me; these will count for 70% of your grade. At the end of the semester, you will have to take a final exam (open notes) on campus or with an approved proctor. I will provide more information about the final exam later in the semester.

The text book for the course is: Excursions in Modern Mathematics, 6th edition, by Tannenbaum

Make sure that you check your NCSU Unity e-mail regularly for course announcements

Mail your assignments to me at the following address:

I will grade your work and return it along with the next assignment.

The assignments (called tests) are also attached below as pdf files.

Pace yourself to complete the course by August 5.  Although there are no specific due dates for the assignments, the schedule below is suggested in order for you to complete the course on time.
Assignment 1 - June 5
Assignment 2 - June 26
Assignment 3 - July 17
Assignment 4 - August 3

The final exam will be given on August 6 - August 7. More information will be given later.

The homework problems in the "homework" link are not to be turned in.  They are the problems that are assigned at the end of each class on the dvd; these problems are reviewed at the beginning of the next class.  The homework problems in the lectures refer to the 4th edition of the text; the corresponding list for the 5th and 6th editions is in the homework link.

Here is a link to a list of TOPICS that are covered in each lecture.
