Alternative Licensure in French/Spanish

LATERAL ENTRY

Admission Requirements:
1. Lateral Entry candidates must hold a BA or BS degree with a minimum 2.5 grade point average
2. Lateral Entry candidates must prove content knowledge through a combination of university coursework in French/Spanish and passing scores on PRAXIS II specialty exams. All applicants must submit Praxis II scores with their application.

Coursework
Eighteen(18) hours of coursework in professional education are required.

  • ECI 471 Educational Implications of Learning and Developmental Theory (3 cr.)
    (plus supplementary module in child development)
  • ECI 472  Interaction of Classroom Management and Instruction (3 cr.)
  • ECI 473 Foreign Language Methods K-12 (3 cr.)
  • ECI 474 and ECI 476 Super Saturday Seminars (on selected topics) (6 hrs.)
  • ECI 496Y Practicum in Education (3 cr.)
  • Teaching portfolio
