Dear colleagues,
We are preparing an updated translation of a computer algebra survey that appeared in German language in 1993. The new Handbook for Computer Algebra is being published by Springer Verlag. As there are many new systems that have been developed in the intervening period, we ask you to consider contributing a short description of your software to our book and archival electronic files to the compact disc, which will be attached to the book. Please keep in mind that because of space limitations your descriptions should be as concise as is possible. We are especially interested in systems that have been used outside your development team. If you are not sure if your article is appropriate, please contact one of us. Please also be aware that we may not be able to publish a contribution that we find substantially different from the rest of the system descriptions.
One important chapter of the book is devoted to interesting applications of computer algebra areas like:
Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry Biology, Medicine, Economy, Business, Education, ...
Please contact one of the editors and send an abstract and -- if available -- a Web-page info of your application. In case we accept your application report for the survey, we expect to get a 1-2 page contribution in LaTeX using the style files and bibtex references as explained in the Web-page given below.
As the book will be delivered with a CD, we even might include your notebook, code, input file for the computer algebra system you have used. Please inform us in this case in your abstract about the code (platform, requirements, size,....) (see Springer's html form).
Thank you for considering a contribution, and helping us making the book a success. The absolute deadline for submissions is September 30, 1998 (by email in LaTeX format, see the link at
for style files and sample articles).
