In response to comments and feedback from many of you, we are planning to offer orientation sessions for those students taking courses via the Web. Based on our assessment of students' needs, the orientation focus will be on the knowledge and technical requirements needed to take a course over the Web. We will not teach these skills, but will review them and answer questions. The topics of discussion will be: - minimum hardware and software requirements - finding an Internet Service Provider (ISP) (questions to ask when choosing one) - applications they can use for reading their e-mail - some simple troubleshooting procedures if they have problems - available resources for help (Help Desk, FAQ database, online resources) Two sessions (the second's a repeat) have been scheduled at the following times/locations: Wednesday, 7 January from 12:30 - 1:30 pm Brown Room (4114), University Student Center (4th floor) Thuesday, 13 January from 6:00 - 7:00 pm Green Room (4106), University Student Center (4th floor) No pre-registration is required and we encourage students with questions to come and talk with us. Please share this information with those students taking the Web-based version of your course.
