Monday February 23rd, 4pm, Mann Hall 323

Abstract: NCSU Open Source Initiative and redesign of the NCSU GIS curriculum are supporting the growth of open source geospatial technology at NCSU both in research and education. Several projects that involve modeling and analysis with open source GRASS GIS will be presented, including new approach to analysis of coastal terrain time series, computation of high resolution seamless topobathy model for NC coast at RENCI, as well as monitoring and modeling with ground based and laboratory 3D laser scanners. Information about the new course on geospatial modeling and analysis and future plans for GIS curriculum will also be provided.
