I believe the best informed decision makers are those people who can draw from a broad knowledge base. As such, I maintain a broad interest in the field of conservation biology. In the process of constantly updating my knowledge on natural history, I have gained research experience in the fields of habitat loss, restoration ecology, macroecology, landscape ecology, biogeography, invasion biology, and conservation genetics, covering ecosystems as wide as forests, savannas, wetlands, grasslands, marine ecosystems and the subantarctic. My research has ranged from individuals organisms to populations of single species and communities of different species. I have worked on mammals, birds, reptiles, invertebrates and plants at local and regional scales in South, East and West Africa, North America and the southern Oceans. I extensively use statistics and spatial analysis in many of my research endeavors, and even touch on aspects such as genetics and physiology if it were to make sense. Follow the links for brief introductions on research endeavors I am or have been involved in. |
