Personal Finance

Course

Personal Finance is an introductory course designed to provide students with a basic understanding of how various economic and financial principles may be used to accumulate and protect assets, manage income, reduce expenses and make sound investments in order to create wealth to meet future needs and goals.

Outline

Personal Finance is a survey course dealing with several topics that affect personal financial decisions. When this course is completed, students should have a working knowledge of such topics as financial record keeping, credit transactions, taxation, insurance, investing, and other topics related to personal finance. The course is broken down into three (3) different parts:

  • Part 1 - Introduction to the Course, Financial Planning, Economic Concepts & Credit Abuse
  • Part 2 - Shelter, Taxes, & Insurance
  • Part 3 - Investing, Retirement & Estate Planning
