Welcome to the Hyperthermophile Laboratory website at North Carolina State University!  Under the direction of Dr. Robert M. Kelly, our group elucidates, resolves and utilizes biochemical processes of hyperthermophilic organisms to  identify and develop unique biotechnological applications.  Hyperthermophiles are microorganisms that grow in temperature in excess of 80^oC and offer unique characteristics due to their intrinsic thermostability.
