- Should be very concise (no more than 2 or 3 lines)
- Should be worded as a direct response to the job description
- Provides an opportunity to include some "key" words from the job description
- May begin by naming the position desired ("A mechanical engineering position" in Sample 1 below) or by using a verb
form to state the goal ("To obtain" in Sample 2 below)
