Discussion Forum
We will use WebCT/Vista for our class Discussions throughout the semester.
For first time users, or a refresher, read the following information:.
How to Post a Message on the Discussion Forum
- Logon to WebCT/Vista
- Click on the course and section that you are enrolled in:
- ENG 331-014 Larsen Springl 2008 under COURSES
Click on the push-pin icon marked Discussion Forum.
You have two choices for posting a message:
Method #1
- Click on "Compose Message"
- Select the appropriate topic from the drop-down menu in the "Topic" box (example: "Introductions")
- Enter a descriptive subject line in the "Subject" box
- Type message in the "Message" box
- Proofread your message
- Click "Post"
Method #2
- Click on a Topic (example: "Introductions")
- Click on "Compose Message"
- Enter a descriptive subject line in the "Subject" box
- Type message in the "Message" box
- Proofread your message
- Click "Post"
You can reply to anyone's message by clicking on "Reply" or you can start your own "thread" in a topic.
WebCT/Vista Terms
On the Discussion Forum page, you will see a list of Topics.
Once you click on a topic, you have a few choices of how to view the messages. You can choose to see all the messages or just the ones that you have not read by clicking on either All Messages or Show Unread.
Within each of the Topics will be your messages. Your messages are referred to as threads. You can view the messages as threaded messages or in chronological order. You can choose how the messages are organized by clicking on either Threaded or Unthreaded.
