Agent Robert Jones
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Office of Public and Congressional Affairs
935 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20535-0001
Dear Agent Jones:
As the daughter of a federal law enforcement officer, I have grown up with a
true appreciation of the law. Upon graduation, with a masters in accounting
from North Carolina State University, I plan on applying to the Bureau, in hopes
of becoming a special agent. A summer internship with the field office in
Raleigh would give me hands-on experience and help get me on the road to a career
with the FBI.
My current job working in the finance department of an advertising agency has
given me the opportunity to really learn the ins and outs of accounting.
Currently I am in charge of gathering information for a sales tax audit. I am
researching the last seven years of business to prepare a case supporting what
the NC department of Revenue calls "questionable invoices." From this experience
I see the company's side of the audit and can take this knowledge and apply it to
FBI investigations of white-collar crime. I recognize the tedious nature of a
future career as a Special Agent Accountant and look forward to the challenge.
The enclosed resume summarizes my work experience and qualifications. As you can
see I am a hard worker, however the resume fails to recognize my extreme
enthusiasm about this position. My responsibility and motivation will be an asset
to any project I am assigned.
Thank you for your consideration of my resume. I will be available in May,
following the end of my junior year. Due to my busy school and work schedule
e-mail or the phone is the best means of reaching me. My e-mail address is:
kmwhitak@unity.ncsu.edu, and my phone number is: (919) 233-2002. I'll give you
a call in a few weeks after you have had ample time to consider my resume. Thanks
again for your time.
Sincerely,
Karen S. Miller
