Subject: Investigative Report on Dupont for Future Employment

Purpose:

The purpose of this memo is to present information on
Dupont that I gathered for Assignment 1. This information
will help me effectively write an application letter for
Assignment 2. Through research I have decided
that the four most important aspects about
Dupont are as follows:

1. Background Corporate Information
2. Financial aspects
3. Environment
4. Career Opportunities

I am interested in these four aspects about
Dupont because they give me a quick idea of what
Dupont is all about. In the following sections, I
will explain why each aspect is important to me
so that you can provide me with feedback for the
application process.

Background Corporate Information:

Dupont was incorporated in Delaware in 1915, but
after years of success in the industrial/science
market it now is a global company located in 70
countries with approximately 105,000 employees. I
like the fact that Dupont is a huge company with
labs and offices around the world, and this could
possibly open up opportunities for me to travel
and experience different cultures. Also, since
Dupont is such a big company, I would be working
with many interesting and talented people
producing and improving on name brands, such as
Teflon, SilverStone, Stainmaster, Kevlar,
and Mylar.

Financial Aspects:

I think Dupont would be a great company to work
for financially because of its diversity. Dupont
gains revenue from chemicals, fibers, polymers,
petroleum, and the rest from diversified In 1996,
these products gained Dupont $43.8 billion in
revenues and a net income of $3.6 billion. With
revenue going up for the past three years and a
bright outlook towards the future, Dupont has
nowhere to go but up. I like Dupont's goal for
the future, which is to double its market value
by the year 20XX. This shows me Dupont has great
confidence in its products and those who make them.

Environment:

Probably the most important aspect in choosing
a job to me is the environment in which I would
be working in from day to day. Dupont promises
to foster an environment that creates sprit, energy,
and a commitment to win. Dupont provides an
environment in which a diverse workforce is focused on
enabling employees to realize their personal
growth and success directly related to Dupont's
success. I also think that integrity, high
ethical standards, and willingness to treat people
fairly are important qualities that Dupont offers.

Career Opportunities:

A career with Dupont offers me an opportunity to
be a catalyst for discovery and innovation. Not
only would I be solving the most important
problems at hand in today's sociely but I would
also be reaping the benefits and advancement
opportunities that Dupont has to offer. Dupont
would also give me the opportunity to alter my
career path depending on my performance and
interests. This is a greet option since doing
the same job from year to year would get old and
boring.

Conclusion:

Being rated as one of the 100 best companies to
work for in America and the fact that Dupont has
something challenging to offer every employee
make Dupont my first career choice. Opportunities
to travel and work with diverse people, use the
latest technology, and work in a great environment
are all reasons why I want to work for Dupont.
