ENG 333 Communication for Science and Research

The Communication Situation: This assignment requires that you think creatively. You have a great idea to start a small business but you need funds. You are to write a formal proposal for a loan to the President of First National Bank, Ms. I. Hogg, explaining what your proposed business will be and why it will be profitable for her bank to invest in your idea.

The Assignment: Write a formal loan application proposal to:

First National Bank

Raleigh, North Carolina 27695

Your document should include the necessary information (with some exceptions, as you will see for the deleted items in the evaluation criteria that follows) to obtain a loan to start a small business. Research into the proper format of business plans will be useful (the Business section at the Cameron Village library is VERY helpful). Overall, this document should have a professional appearance and include the following:

• Cover page
• Title page
• An abstract, or executive summary
• Table of Contents
• List of Tables and Figures
• Report content
• Bibliography
• An attachment .

Outside research will be required in order to create a believable and viable proposal. Research into other similar businesses, costs of materials needed to start the business, customer demographic information, and other related information must be included.

The business plan should be written persuasively. Basically, I am looking for your overall argument so you will need to prove the uniqueness of your service or product and potential customer demand for it.
