The Pierce group focuses on the synthesis of complex molecules, including both natural products and other bioactive targets.  Through these efforts we aim to develop new tools for organic synthesis that allow construction of novel molecular architectures in rapid synthetic sequences.  In all projects a major focus is the biological relevance of the chosen targets and follow-up chemical biology studies are performed in our lab.  Research topics include novel bond forming reactions, asymmetric catalysis, organometallic chemistry, complex natural product synthesis and in vitro biological assays.
