Interim Executive Director. The Black Mental Health Alliance for Education and Consultation, Inc. 2000-2001.

Responsible for the overall operation of the Black Mental Health Alliance, including general administration, fundraising, financial and grant management, community awareness, marketing and public relations. Developed short and long range goals and objectives to ensure the efficient management, direction, resource development and allocation, and delivery of services and programs. Worked with Board of Directors to formulate objectives and make policy decisions for the organization. Served as an ex-officio member of all standing and ad hoc committees.

 

Business Development Manager. People Encouraging People, Inc. 1998 - 1999.

Responsible for contract negotiation, increasing funding base of the agency, promoting and marketing the organization to the general community. Developed relationships with area employers and promote program services. Developed and revised forms, manuals, and brochures. Increased agency funding $3.2 million.

 

Project Manager. People Encouraging People, Inc. 1997 - 1998.

Responsible for implementing the For Your Independence Program, a welfare to work program that assists heads of households transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency through employment. Developed relationships with area employers and promote program services. Serve as liaison to collaborating agencies including State of Maryland Department of Human Resources, Baltimore City Department of Social Services, and other community based organizations. Hired and supervised a professional and paraprofessional staff. Developed and revised forms, manuals, brochures, and MIS systems. Compiled and provided monthly and quarterly reports to funders and stakeholders.

 

Program Director. PACT: Helping Children with Special Needs, Inc. 1996 - 1997.

Responsible for the successful implementation of two (2) programs; the Therapeutic Nursery, a childcare center for homeless children with special needs, and Parents In Action, a parent training program for cognitively limited parents and their children. Managed combined program budgets of $275,000. Supervised a staff professionals and paraprofessionals and college level human service program interns. Coordinated program activities with collaborating agencies for service provision, grant writing, planning, resource sharing, and development. Compiled and provided reports for funders and stakeholders.

 

State of Maryland HIV Capacity Building Train the Trainer Initiative. 1996.

Provided theory and methods regarding behavior modification in regard to HIV/AIDS direct line service delivery. Prepared for and outlined methods of training direct line service providers to implement behavior change in the target population in accordance with State of Maryland guidelines and initiatives. Provided 13 full day training sessions to over 260 direct service providers in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area.

 

Project Director. Black Mental Health Alliance for Education and Consultation, Inc. 1994 – 1996.

Managed a $250,000 grant to provide conflict mediation, mental health services, and after school programs to elementary and middle school students in three target schools. Acted as primary liaison with project partners and staff to coordinate planning, development, financing, and implementation of services. Other duties included coordinating annual fundraising programs; contributing to quarterly newsletter; coordinating direct mail solicitations; preparing annual report; grant writing; consultation services to local human service organizations; and planning and implementing the annual conference.

 

Mental Health Therapist. Jermany and Associates, P. A. 1995 – 1997.

Provided clinical therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults. Other duties included treatment plan collaboration as well as development and implementation of support groups.

 

Student Discovery Center Facilitator. Fairmount Harford Institute. 1993 – 1994.

Responsible for Student Discovery Center operations including systems analysis, budgeting, forms development, student advocacy, program marketing and development, files management, correspondence and proposal writing. Additional duties included student counseling and resource referrals, planning and implementation of monthly school-wide student discussion sessions, as well as chaperoning and planning student trips and activities.

 

Outreach Coordinator. Black Mental Health Alliance for Education and Consultation, Inc. 1993 – 1994.

Responsible for the implementation and co-facilitation of a support group for family members of persons with mental illness. Duties included research, strategic planning, group facilitation, minimal case management, records management, marketing, and evaluation.
